Job opportunities within the ATLAS calorimeter group at MPP
The activities of the group include:
- top quark analyses, jet physics and QCD studies,
- calorimeter related detector performance studies,
- hardware development for the hadronic endcap calorimeter electronics for the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC.
Currently the following topics for PhD, Master, and Bachelor theses can be offered:
PhD thesis topics:
- Search for tt-bar resonances in the all-hadronic tt-bar channel with ATLAS
- Measurement of the top quark mass in the all-hadronic channel with 7 and 8 TeV ATLAS data
- Studies of underlying event and multi-parton interactions in 7 and 8 TeV ATLAS data
- Final states with many jets in ATLAS
- Jet substructure in top events in ATLAS
- Chip design and radiation tests for radiation hard readout electronics for the upgrade of the ATLAS hadronic endcap calorimeter
Master thesis topic:
- Analysis of transistor characteristics (gain, etc.) after irradiation for cold electronics upgrade of the ATLAS hadronic endcap calorimeter (
pdf, in German)
Bachelor thesis topic:
- Study of cluster shapes under pile-up conditions with ATLAS data
