Group leader position in theoretical particle physics

The Theory Group of Giulia Zanderighi at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich is inviting applications for

a Group-Leader Position (m/f/d) in Novel Computational Techniques in Particle Physics.

Remuneration is based on the wage agreement for the public service (TVöD Bund) up to level E14, depending on qualification and experience. It is a fixed-term appointment with an initial contract duration of 5 years, with the possibility to become a permanent position.

Suitable candidates are expected to

  • Perform research primarily in the field of high-energy collider physics, in particular particle physics phenomenology and quantum chromodynamics.
  • Actively participate in the research programme and organization of the group.
  • Support, supervise and train young scientists and collaborate with postdocs.

The required qualifications are

  • A PhD degree in physics.
  • Well-established achievements in high-energy particle physics research.
  • Experience in computational techniques and the development of software for the simulation of high-energy particle collisions (e.g. Monte Carlo methods, event generators, or machine-learning techniques).
