The Max Planck Institute group is working on physics studies in the areas of Higgs boson, Top quark and Beyond-the-Standard-Model physics, on the analysis of data acquired with the highly granular CALICE calorimeters and on the development of detector technologies for SiPM-on-Tile - based imaging hadron calorimeters and the associated reconstruction algorithms, as well as on the optimization of detector concepts for future colliders. All of these projects are carried out in close collaboration with international partners. The position is also connected to the Excellence Cluster ORIGINS, which investigates the development of the Universe from the Big Bang to the emergence of life.
The successful applicant must hold or be near completion of a PhD in experimental particle physics or a related field. She/he will have a strong interest in physics studies for future collider projects and/or detector development. Experience in the analysis of large data sets in particle physics or in detector simulations based on GEANT4 is considered an asset. The candidate will be given the possibility to decide the focus of her/his activities within the projects of the group based on personal preference, and will have the opportunity to work with and contribute to the supervision of bachelor, master and doctoral students. She/he must be independent and creative while fitting in a group effort.
Salary and benefits are commensurate with public service organizations (TVöD Bund). The contract is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of an extension.
