Within the framework of the Lise Meitner Group “In search of a new, light physics” we invite applications for a
Postdoctoral Position (f/m/d)
for the development of axion haloscopes for the future babyIAXO magnet.
The successful candidate is expected to take a major role in the design, and the building of a demonstrator for a large scale haloscope in the babyIAXO magnet in collaboration with the RADES group. In addition, the candidate should take a leading role in contributing to analysis of data and further development of demonstrators in the RADES group in Germany, at CERN and in Spain. A possibility to work on projects in particle phenomenology, as well as a contribution to other projects in the research group at part-time is also possible.
Candidates must hold or be near completion of a PhD in experimental or theoretical particle physics or equivalent at the time of recruitment. A person with previous experience in radiofrequency design, electronics or experience in data analysis for hep experiments would be ideal. Expertise with cryogenic set-ups or superconductors is an advantage.
As the COSINUS collaboration is a diverse group of experimental physicists, construction engineers, technicians and PhDs, very good communication skills and the ability to coordinate a small team as well as independently organize the work are crucial.
The position is initially limited to a period of two years, with the possibility of extension of at least one additional year. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the German public service pay scale (TVöD Bund).
