Service Module

The Service Module (SM) is an ATCA blade which provides power and control through the ATCA Shelf Manager and an Xilinx Zynq SoM. It hosts one or two custom mezzanine cards, which are called Command Modules. Theses modules are tailored towards a custom use case, providing all necessary IO interface and computing power.

It is a common deveolpment for the ATLAS and the CMS detector at CERN.

Service Module Version 1

The Service Module version 1 was built and put to operation in 2019.

Service Module Version 2

The Service Module version 2 features a more powerful SoM with a Xiliny Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC. First modules are expected in 2020.
