New spine design:

- wide TPG (23mm)
- simplified TPG/AlN joints
- straight split

a) conceptual design by C. Hirt (Geneva) (1) (2)

b) drawing of new spine design (P. Sutcliffe) (May 2001)

Spines of this new series were assembled at IHEP (Ocotber 2001):

These spines will be modified for the new K5 hybrid at MPI. More will be produced at IHEP.

Changes:
- metal shield on B-side of front wings
- bias trace modified to match bias contact on K5
- no TPG openings for detector bias
- metal traces on middle wings (A and B) to contact rear detector pair
- metal pad for shunt shield contact
- spacers to compensate increased hybrid thickness
- spacer with metal trace to new TPG opening for shunt shield
- re-inforcement of the v-tongue
