String theory is a theory to unify two otherwise incompatible concepts: It creates a mathematical substructure to accommodate both quantum physics and gravity. With string theory our reality would not be composed of particles, but of tiny, vibrating things. We would live with many more dimensions, so far not accessible to our senses or experiments. In this edition of Café & Kosmos Davide De Biasio from the Max Planck Institute for Physics explains how string theory might help us to understand the fundamental nature of the universe.
The talk/discussion will be held in English.
