The famous String Theory is possibly the most abstract of all disciplines in physics. Its origins date back to 1919, when the concept of “extra dimensions” first appeared by the hand of the German mathematician Theodor Kaluza. Ever since, String Theory keeps helping and also confusing physicists in many different contexts, from particle physics to quantum gravity. Dr. Veronica Errasti Diez explains the changes and different roles of String Theory in the past decades – emphasizing the latest, quite surprising developments.
