New trainees get started at the MPP

On September 1, 2016, five young women and men started their professional education at the Max Planck Institute for Physics (MPP). Over the next three years, they will train to become electronics technicians for devices and systems or industrial mechanics. With the new entrants, the MPP is also celebrating its 20th anniversary as a training workplace. The first trainees arrived at the MPP in 1996.

Engelbert Modjesch, head of training, and staff member of the Specialist and Personnel Divsions extended a warm welcome to the five “newcomers”. Modjesch said he was confident that the new generation of trainees would also successfully complete their training.

“Our success rate is extremely high,” he said. “In 20 years, only one trainee did not complete his apprenticeship because he developed other career interests.” Modjesch is also pleased that this year’s group again includes two female trainees. The MPP has trained 100 young people so far, including 20 women.
